Marcus Rashford has faced an overwhelming amount of scrutiny due to his inconsistent United tenure. The most recent comes from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, former assistant to the Three Lions, who insinuated that football isn't necessarily what Rashford is focusing on.
In response to Rashford's troubles, Cole stated his hope that the 26-year-old does not regret ever playing professional football. Cole stressed the importance of making the right decisions despite Rashford's evident talent. To date, he has made eleven appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
Cole told Betfred: "Marcus is a fantastic talent. He didn't score one, but he created another in the first half against Porto, where he was one of the best performers for United. He was very lively, using his greatest asset. But against Aston Villa, he made some great runs and was in a bit of danger too. He could have been sent off for two careless challenges. In the bigger picture, the right thing for his team was for the manager to take him off."
Quite frankly, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's remark that he isn't sure if Marcus' primary focus is on football shocked me. Such remarks are typically born out of insight, more so by a seasoned person such as Jimmy. But I hope that Marcus has sufficient space ahead of him in his journey not to be looking back at his career with regrets of making different decisions.
Eric ten Hag's aim is to put an end to a five-match losing streak; they intend to take on Brentford in the Premier League, returning from the international break.
